I Find This Quite Awesome

by on Oct.12, 2010, under Epic News, Rants, Site News

So in preparation for the coming Extra Life event, those of us at Epic Default have caught some sort of weird bug… well actually Jonny legitimately caught a bug and we all hope he gets over it soon. But for the lot us, we have decided to try to lure as many people as possible into donating money to us at the expense of our self-respect and any hope of a future relationships. We have decided to go all out in our attempt to encourage donations by forcing tomfoolery upon ourselves that will then be broadcast online live. Is it ridiculous… good god yes! Is it going to be fun… of course it will… after all the crying stops. But (and most importantly) will it be for a good cause… most certainly. We are doing this because we are bound and determined to help out this great cause. Raising money for children’s hospitals to get good equipment and plenty of staff and establish or keep great programs that help kids and families in need to actually have a fighting chance is something we all feel awesome being a part of. So please, check out the individual information below and help out our team in this great venture… if for nothing else then to see Jonny playing games upside-down and me playing games with a suit, monocle, and pink tutu.

Let’s #%@$ With Anthony During Extra Life Raffle

As you guys probably already know from the multiple messages and notes I have sent out, I’m planning on doing Extra Life which is a 24 hour gaming marathon in which I’m collecting donations to raise money for the Texas Children’s Hospital.

What you might now know though is that I decided to make this more interesting in an attempt to make more money for the kids.

https://www.hospitalshelpingkids.org/ExtraLife/m.aspx?i=20020354D59B…C8ACE

So here is how it’s going to work: I will have a 4 hour block from 2pm to 6pm in which I’m going to designate for “Let’s $%@$ With Anthony” Time. During which I will do certain things that may or may not be embarrasing but certainly will be silly and fun to watch streamed online… That’s right boys and girls, I will be streaming myself during this time online so you can watch me making a fool of myself live and even add comments. I even encourage people to record it and make mixups wiith the video. All rights to this footage are open to all.

Now what I actually do is designated by certain donation milestones that I might reach. Here is the breakdown.

If I hit $200 – I will speak in a weird accent (every time I break this I will be slapped in the back of the head by one of my playing mates)

· English accent

· Spanish accent

· Pretentious, rich person accent (this really should be used in unison with one of the options from the $300 level)

· Silent Bob accent

If I hit $300 – I will wear something weird

· Robe and pipe

· Swimming trunks and snorkel

· Suit, top hat and monocle

· Biking shorts, jersey, and cap

If I hit $400 (due to popular opinion) – I will play “I Wanna Be The Guy” (for those that don’t know what this game is, check out the wiki (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Wanna_Be_the_Guy) or destructoid (www.destructoid.com/i-wanna-be-the-guy-one-of-the-hardest-games-you-ll-ever-play-63840.phtml) I shall be cursing a lot while playing this game, unless you guys force the Silent Bob accent on me.

If I hit $500 – I will add two hours to my play time and play for 6 hours (until 8pm)

If I hit $600 – I will also wear a pink tutu over whatever else I’m wearing

If I hit $700 – I will add two more hours to my play time and play for 8 hours (until 10pm)

If I hit $800 – I will add two more hours to my play time and play for 10 hours (until midnight)

For the one’s with options ($200 & $300 milestones) every $10 you donate will get you one vote for both the accent and the what I will wear (this does include the awesome people that have already donated). I will then do a live drawing out of a hat at high noon on the day of to let people know which were selected.

I’m already at $198 so there is a huge head start to this. Anyone can donate so feel free to let others know about this and get them to donate. If the internet has taught me anything, it’s that people love to laugh at the expense of complete strangers making fools of themselves online and at least this is for a good cause. Let’s see how far we can get this going and we can all feel good about it afterwards because we helped out some kids in the process.See More

Extra Life Streaming party/Make Jonny do crazy things on the internet

He’s done it the last two years in Houston. Now this year he’s bringing the pain to the Emerald City. Come hang out with Jonny at his house, or watch him on http://www.epicdefault.com/ as he plays games for 24 hours straight.

Extra Life is a Video Game Marathon that benefits the children’s miracle network. Gamers from all around the globe are sitting down at 8am on October 16th, and will play until 8 am on October 17th, all to… raise money for their local children’s hospital. For more info, head to http://extralife.sarcasticgamer.com/

This year, just like the past two years, I will be taking up arms for the Texas Children’s Hospital. This hospital is a leader in pediatric care, and will not turn away any sick child or family for any reason, no matter what their financial situation is. That’s why your donations are so important. Your money will be going to ensure that thousands of kids each year get the care they need. To donate to my marathon, please go to https://www.hospitalshelpingkids.org/ExtraLife/m.aspx?i=171331863BEDA6AE9

Also, keep in mind that this year I have upped the ante. For every $100 I get, I will do something silly on camera during the stream. For more info on that, please go here http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=436425058643

Please let me know if you are going to attend and in what fashion. My house is small so I’ll need to do some crowd control. But come out and help me play games to heal kids!!!

Dylan Plays Hello Kitty!

Dylan will be taking up the cause once again and participate in the grueling 24 hour gamerfest called Extra Life. This year though, he’s upping the ante and willing be burning the kitty torch. Upon reaching $200, Dylan has pledged to spend a 6 hour chunk of time playing Hello Kitty Online! I’m unsure if he will survive such a venture but if you could show him some support, it would be most welcome. Please, visit his site https://www.hospitalshelpingkids.org/ExtraLife/m.aspx?i=20417A8F0+5+C59E4 and let him know that his heroic efforts are not in vain.

Hope will not ride alone this weekend! It will be thousands strong with your support pushing us to the finish! We will fight!

Play Games, Heal Kids (Finally!!)

by on Sep.27, 2010, under Site News

Photobucket

So with moving, life, PAX, volunteering for the Houston Street team for this event, and a bunch of other things, we almost completely forgot to tell you that we are going to kill ourselves again this year!!!

All in the name of healing kids.

Extra Life is a 24 hour Gaming marathon that takes place on October 16th at 8am in your local time zone. Sarcastic Gamer has been putting this on for the past three years and they have raised over 250,000 dollars for the Texas Children’s hospital. It’s coming around again for a third time, and for a third time we will be playing our guts out and entertaining you on a live stream. There will be surprises, insults, and jokes galore again as we will live stream the event from two coasts (that’s the Gulf Coast and the Pacific coast, for those of you keeping score.)

All that is well and good, but it means nothing for us to do this for our own amusement/punishment. So once again we are asking you loyal readers and listeners to open up your wallets and donate to the cause. This year, Extra Life has teamed up with the Children’s Miracle Network. Which means that al the money we will be raising will not be going to the Texas Children’s Hospital.

Well, okay, I lied…SOME of it will. A little bit of it will also be going to the Seattle Children’s Hospital as well. You can click on the banner to the right to get to our team page and choose who you would like to donate to, or you can just click on one of the names below.

For SCH:

Please, find it in your hearts to donate some dollars to this awesome cause, or hell, join us on October 16th and play for your local hospital!!!
