Is this the end of our intrepid hero?

by Jonny Nero on Jul.01, 2010, under Site News

We hope not!!!!

Hey guys! So you may have noticed a bit of a change lately, in that we don’t update much.  Not like we ever really did anyway.  But no worries, we’ve still got you guys in our thoughts, and we have a few podcasts in the editing cue that will go up very shortly.

Also happening shortly, is something that I’m not willing to divulge, in order to protect the innocence of the site.  It’s something that’s going to take a little skill, and a little luck.  If we execute sucessfully, then you might experience just a little blip in connection with the site.  If we don’t, well, you’ll know we won’t and this will be our official farewell post.

We hope it doesn’t come to that, but in case it does.  Thanks for putting up with us for the last two years, it’s been fun! And in the words of Peter Venkman…

We came, we saw, we kicked it’s ass!!!

The Epic Default Podcast, Ep. 20: The CCST Show, Part 1

by Jonny Nero on Aug.09, 2009, under Podcast, The Epic Default Podcast

Photobucket

It’s now officially an annual tradition! Three weeks from kickoff, Moe_Fwacky joins the crew to talk all things CCST. Also, Qs23 makes his debut! And another guy joins Jonny and the rest who is also on the CCST, VT! And then Jake just sits there and acts like, Jake. This is an experimental episode, so please let me know if you like it. I cut back editing time from 40 hours to 2.5 in order to get this out quickly. Let me know if it’s still decent in the comments.

N00b Diaries: Dungeons and Dragons

by Jonny Nero on Feb.04, 2009, under N00b Diaries

Photobucket

For those of you who have been reading our site from the beginning, I hope you have begun to realize that I am a geek and have been one my entire life (and if not, then you are a liar, sir! A liar and a cheat! *insert British accent here*). I just forgot that I was for a good portion of it. So I missed out on a lot of cool geeky things. N00b Diaries are stories on my new experiences in geek culture, in the hopes that it takes you back to the days where you were a n00b just like me.

This weekend was the beginning of my first quest. As a wood elf barbarian looking for my father, I stumbled upon a mother who was wrongly accused of murdering her son. Myself and three fellow adventurers set off to clear her name. Yes, that’s right: this was my first time playing Dungeons and Dragons.

The Epic Default Podcast, Ep. 8: Mac vs. PC or A Bitch to Edit

by Jonny Nero on Jan.17, 2009, under Podcast

Photobucket

This episode was a bitch to edit, and it probably shows. Jonny, Tony, HotSake, and CWKnight
return to continue their epic podcast recording session with possibly the most hilarious
episode of the podcast so far. Witness the greatest Mac Vs. PC argument in recording history.
We also dive into stalker territory, the likes of Zaboo, when we discuss Felicia Day and the
Guild.

The Epic Default Podcast, Ep. 5: PAX IRC Part 1

After a month off (to you that is, I spent most of it trying to edit this as best I could), The Epic Default Podcast makes it’s triumphant return to the airwaves with a new member to the team as well as a couple of friends we met at PAX. And, just like the IRC chat this episode is named after, it spirals down to porn…on multiple occasions. We split this up into two episodes because we just can’t seem to stay on track with what we are talking about, and dammit, we like it that way. Cuzza’s track sounds weird because it was taken off of the Skype recording which was very laggy at the time of recording. Music Theme: the music of 8bitcollective.com

Is this really what we should be thinking about now?

by Jonny Nero on Oct.08, 2008, under Rants

Admin note: Turns out I was an idiot and bought a different hosting server, instead of just upgrading the current account.

Photobucket
Image taken from Joystiq

It’s that time again!  Time when everyone breaks out their mudslinging gear and participates in the largest Yo Momma contest ever.  A time when true issues are tossed aside for a direct and underhanded attack on others.  That’s right, it’s election season!

Now, I have my own political views that are really no concern to anyone else, and I’m not in the mind to get into a debate about which candidate is better.  I will say this, though: it’s about the candidate, not the party.  Please don’t vote for the party; actually research the choices and make your decision from there.  That’s not an attack against Obama. That’s a problem this nation has been falling into for the past 16 years or more, and, in my opinion, the reason why the country is so fucked up right now.

In case you’re wondering why I’m on a political spiel at the moment, it’s because of this.  Once again, playing Video Games is apparently a bad thing.  Can we move past this, please?  Granted, this is the Maricopa County District 11 Supervisor race (wherever the hell that is [Phoenix 4tw -Ed.]), but why bring this up?

The only rational reason, at least that I can see, is that according to Mr. Ed Hermes, “I…play almost every night.”  Which means it could possibly take focus away from his supervisor duties.  However, is it that much of a stretch to think that this is not the reason this little blurb made it onto these flyers? Playing games like Halo, GTA, “insert name of violent game here” does not automatically make you a bad person, unless you already are one or really have no moral fiber in you.

Politicians, get your heads out of your asses and realize this is not the issue…at all.  Video games are not causing the Stock Market to crash.  Video games are not sending our troops to fight a pointless war.  Video games are not causing hunger, disease, bad health care, or any of the real issues at stake here.  The only thing it has a notion of even helping is bad parenting.  And I mean helping, not causing.

You know someone who grew up on video games.  It’s a pretty safe bet that their parents were there playing with them (at least mine were).  It’s a safe bet that all the non-nutcases out there were actually taught that these are FANTASY, and should have no carryover to your real life.

Unfortunately, it’s an easy target. There are people out there who are not part of the choir I’m preaching to who will believe it, will always believe it.  How do we stop them?  Your guess is as good as mine.  What I do know is that if I lived in District 11 of Maricopa County, I’d be voting for Hermes.  It would be awesome to say I have the Gamertag of a politician.
