Best New Year’s Resolution
$0 gaming budget for 2008
This resolution that I made this time last year was simple: end the year with a net of $0 spent on gaming.  I mean after last year’s huge list of great games there wasn’t going to be anything worth playing this year… right.

Jack Thompson v. Florida
With this fight being what we all thought and hoped would be JT’s final act, I knew that he was going to go out with a bang.  And I doubt there is anything bigger then storming out of his own disbarment hearing.

Worst Fight
HD-DVD v. Blu-Ray
Now I’ve always been a fan of a fair fight. But this fight was anything but fair. Sony won because of one specific reason – Money. I can think of another name for paying people to use your product… bribery.

Best Reason to Stop Gaming & Blogging
Getting Engaged / Getting a Job (Tie)
And with the one-two punch of real life hitting me as soon as I graduated from Eastern Michigan University.  But I have come back with my own one-two punch. Upgrading her computer for her birthday and getting her Civ IV.

Game My Life Is Most Like
Free Enterprise
Most People have no idea about this game. It doesn’t even have its own Wikipedia article. But picture a factory sim.  And then you’ve got Free Enterprise.

Stupidest Use of Technology
The CNN “Hologram”
First off, it wasn’t an actual hologram.  It was a graphical overlay that was absolutely no different than the CNN logo that’s been there forever.  What’s wrong with the good old satellite connection?

Biggest Clusterfuck of 2008
The Financial System
I still have no idea how the hell this whole thing happened… but it’s a bad sign when the number of banks that have closed this year has almost equaled the total numbers of bank closures from 2000 through 2007. WTF happened?

If you don’t know why this date is important by now, then you should Google it. It’s the reason why people are buying 42in RCA 1080p LCD HDTV. Because they need it to get the OTA broadcast signals due to the DTV transition laid out by the FCC. Confused yet?

Like I said before, I had a $0 gaming budget. So my game of the year was the game that I played the most over the past year. And I do have to say for a game that came out in 2004, it still has a nice community behind it.

Most Important Lesson Learned
Don’t Buy Old Used Tires
This lesson was learned by me on this year’s CCST trip. No matter how much tread depth is left on tires, if they are over 8 years old, don’t use them. It will only end in blowouts.
